As far as innovation is concerned, traditional focus groups are not very effective in Japan. However, that doesn’t mean that groups are bad! Instead of bringing a new product to a focus group for feedback, we work together with the group from the beginning to help our clients design the products from the bottom up. Call it “user-generated” or simply “user-inspired”, but every demographic has its share of consumers with great ideas for moving forward.
